“But to what should I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to their companions,


For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’


Jesus said to them, “Can the bridegroom's attendants mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.


When Jesus came to the house of the ruler and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,


“Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.


A great multitude of people followed along behind, including women who were mourning and lamenting for Jesus.


They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not weep.’


Meanwhile, all the people were weeping and mourning for her, but Jesus said, “Do not weep; she is not dead but sleeping.”
