So the crowds were saying, “This is Jesus the prophet, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.”
But the people there refused to welcome him, because his face was set to go to Jerusalem.
Therefore Jesus no longer went around openly among the Jews. Instead, he departed from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, where he spent time with his disciples.

Since those who dwell in Jerusalem, along with their rulers, failed to recognize this man and the voices of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they fulfilled their words by condemning him.
