Yea, I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth are no rebukes.


He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.


But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he made no answer.


And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.”


And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.”


But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate wondered.


Upon this Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend; every one who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar.”
