Job 33:18

He does not believe that he will return out of darkness, and he is destined for the sword.


that he may turn man aside from his deed, and cut off pride from man;


His soul draws near the Pit, and his life to those who bring death.


and he is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down into the Pit, I have found a ransom;


He has redeemed my soul from going down into the Pit, and my life shall see the light.’


to bring back his soul from the Pit, that he may see the light of life.


But if they do not hearken, they perish by the sword, and die without knowledge.


They do not jostle one another, each marches in his path; they burst through the weapons and are not halted.


Or do you presume upon the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not know that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?


And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,


The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
