Terrifying sounds are in his ears; in prosperity the destroyer will come upon him.


A rope is hid for him in the ground, a trap for him in the path.


He is thrust from light into darkness, and driven out of the world.


It is drawn forth and comes out of his body, the glittering point comes out of his gall; terrors come upon him.


He will fly away like a dream, and not be found; he will be chased away like a vision of the night.


Therefore snares are round about you, and sudden terror overwhelms you;


Terrors overtake him like a flood; in the night a whirlwind carries him off.


For the arrows of the Almighty are in me; my spirit drinks their poison; the terrors of God are arrayed against me.


There they are, in great terror, in terror such as has not been! For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly; they will be put to shame, for God has rejected them.


How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors!


The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.


As often as it passes through it will take you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be sheer terror to understand the message.


Why have I seen it? They are dismayed and have turned backward. Their warriors are beaten down, and have fled in haste; they look not back— terror on every side! says the Lord.


Their tents and their flocks shall be taken, their curtains and all their goods; their camels shall be borne away from them, and men shall cry to them: ‘Terror on every side!’


Go not forth into the field, nor walk on the road; for the enemy has a sword, terror is on every side.


Then King Belshazzar was greatly alarmed, and his color changed; and his lords were perplexed.
