And when the time drew near that Israel must die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, put your hand under my thigh, and promise to deal loyally and truly with me. Do not bury me in Egypt,


When David's time to die drew near, he charged Solomon his son, saying,


Now therefore thus says the Lord, ‘You shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone, but you shall surely die.’ ” So Elijah went.


In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Set your house in order; for you shall die, you shall not recover.’ ”


Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.

And he said to them, “I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I am no longer able to go out and come in. The Lord has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’


And the Lord commissioned Joshua the son of Nun and said, “Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to give them: I will be with you.”


and die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died in Mount Hor and was gathered to his people;


So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord,


For I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan; but you shall go over and take possession of that good land.


“And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God promised concerning you; all have come to pass for you, not one of them has failed.


Then Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel; and they presented themselves before God.


Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with rejoicing,


But you have this day rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said, ‘No! but set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your thousands.”


And David said, “As the Lord lives, the Lord will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
