Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,
O Lord, do not thy eyes look for truth? Thou hast smitten them, but they felt no anguish; thou hast consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.
You have plowed iniquity, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your chariots and in the multitude of your warriors,
They utter mere words; with empty oaths they make covenants; so judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
I will cut off the ruler from its midst, and will slay all its princes with him,” says the Lord.
“They do not know how to do right,” says the Lord, “those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.”
O you who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth!
Their hands are upon what is evil, to do it diligently; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together.
And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
