He, lion-like, lurks in his den; he waits the poor to take; And when he draws him in his net, his prey he doth him make.


I in the Lord do put my trust: how is it then that ye Say to my soul, Flee, as a bird, unto your mountain high?


Lord, keep me; for I trust in thee.


He like unto a lion is that's greedy of his prey, Or lion young, which lurking doth in secret places stay.


Their mouths they open'd wide on me, upon me gape did they, Like to a lion ravening and roaring for his prey.


Bow down thine ear to me, with speed send me deliverance: To save me, my strong rock be thou, and my house of defence.


But in my trouble they rejoic'd, gath'ring themselves together; Yea, abjects vile together did themselves against me gather: I knew it not; they did me tear, and quiet would not be.


Now, ye that God forget, this carefully consider; Lest I in pieces tear you all, and none can you deliver.


Do thou deliver me from them that work iniquity; And give me safety from the men of bloody cruelty.
