Because gone up above mine head my great transgressions be; And, as a weighty burden, they too heavy are for me.


For ills past reck'ning compass me, and mine iniquities Such hold upon me taken have, I cannot lift mine eyes: They more than hairs are on mine head, thence is my heart dismay'd.


Do thou with hyssop sprinkle me, I shall be cleansed so; Yea, wash thou me, and then I shall be whiter than the snow.


For thy name's glory help us, Lord, who hast our Saviour been: Deliver us; for thy name's sake, O purge away our sin.
