O God, thou who hadst cast us off, this thing wilt thou not do? And wilt not thou, ev'n thou, O God, forth with our armies go?


But now we are cast off by thee, and us thou putt'st to shame; And when our armies do go forth, thou go'st not with the same.


My God, deliver me from those that are mine enemies; And do thou me defend from those that up against me rise.


Them slay not, lest my folk forget; but scatter them abroad By thy strong pow'r; and bring them down, O thou our shield and God.


O God, which hadest us cast off, this thing wilt thou not do? Ev'n thou, O God, which didest not forth with our armies go?


O God, why hast thou cast us off? is it for evermore? Against thy pasture-sheep why doth thine anger smoke so sore?


How long, Lord, shall thine anger last? wilt thou still keep the same? And shall thy fervent jealousy burn like unto a flame?


For thy name's glory help us, Lord, who hast our Saviour been: Deliver us; for thy name's sake, O purge away our sin.


Hear, Isr'el's Shepherd! like a flock thou that dost Joseph guide; Shine forth, O thou that dost between the cherubims abide.


Turn us again, O Lord our God, and upon us vouchsafe To make thy countenance to shine, and so we shall be safe.


Turn us, God of our health, and cause thy wrath 'gainst us to cease.


In vision to thy Holy One thou saidst, I help upon A strong one laid; out of the folk I rais'd a chosen one;


I with my chosen One have made a cov'nant graciously; And to my servant, whom I lov'd, to David sworn have I;


But thou, displeased, hast cast off, thou didst abhor and loathe; With him that thine anointed is thou hast been very wroth.


Great fear in meeting of the saints is due unto the Lord; And he of all about him should with rev'rence be ador'd.


Turn yet again to us, O Lord, how long thus shall it be? Let it repent thee now for those that servants are to thee.
