And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, although I am only a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.


When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but wisdom is with the humble.


The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.


Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.


A person's pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.


Mortal, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God: Because your heart is proud and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,” yet you are but a mortal, and no god, though you compare your mind with the mind of a god.


Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?


and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they shall know that I am the Lord. Because you said, “The Nile is mine, and I made it,”


While I was speaking, and was praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God on behalf of the holy mountain of my God—


At the beginning of your supplications a word went out, and I have come to declare it, for you are greatly beloved. So consider the word and understand the vision:


For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”


In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
