When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and went off home to his own city. He set his house in order, and hanged himself; he died and was buried in the tomb of his father.


Their strong steps are shortened, and their own schemes throw them down.


yet they lie in wait—to kill themselves! and set an ambush—for their own lives!


The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.


No one finds security by wickedness, but the root of the righteous will never be moved.


Righteousness guards one whose way is upright, but sin overthrows the wicked.


The wicked are overthrown by their evildoing, but the righteous find a refuge in their integrity.


The way of the lazy is overgrown with thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway.


The wicked put on a bold face, but the upright give thought to their ways.


One who walks in integrity will be safe, but whoever follows crooked ways will fall into the Pit.


In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
