In those times it was not safe for anyone to go or come, for great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.


But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways the Lord will lead away with evildoers. Peace be upon Israel!


The highways are deserted, travelers have quit the road. The treaty is broken, its oaths are despised, its obligation is disregarded.


Do not go out into the field, or walk on the road; for the enemy has a sword, terror is on every side.”


The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to the festivals; all her gates are desolate, her priests groan; her young girls grieve, and her lot is bitter.
