Then Joseph directed the physicians in his service to embalm his father Israel. So the physicians embalmed him,


They buried him in the tomb that he had cut out for himself in the City of David. They laid him on a bier covered with spices and various blended perfumes, and they made a huge fire in his honour.


She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.


When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.


Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.


‘Leave her alone,’ Jesus replied. ‘It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.
