You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,


When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.


Suddenly Jesus met them. ‘Greetings,’ he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him.


While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.


And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.


‘You heard me say, “I am going away and I am coming back to you.” If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.


So with you: now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no-one will take away your joy.


But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.


Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’


Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.


Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
