He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.


Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we want to see a sign from you.


A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign. And there shall no sign be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And He left them and went away.


And looking around on them with anger, being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he stretched it out. And his hand was restored whole, like the other.


And He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went around the villages, in a circuit, teaching.


And looking up to Heaven, He sighed and said to him, Ephphatha! (that is, Be opened!)


And He left them. And entering into the boat again, He departed to the other side.


He answered him and said, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me!


And as He drew near, He beheld the city and wept over it,
