But as he was sitting down on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that just man, for today because of Him I have suffered many things in a dream.


Then Pilate said to them, Why? What evil has he done? And they much more cried out, Crucify him!


And he said to them the third time, Why? What evil has He done? I have found no cause of death in Him, therefore I will chastise Him and let Him go.


Pilate said to Him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, I find no fault in him.


But I had perceived nothing he had committed worthy of death, and that he himself has appealed to Augustus, I determined to send him,


The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His son Jesus, whom you delivered up, denying Him in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to let Him go.


For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens,


but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;


He who did no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth,


For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, indeed being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;
