And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomor´rah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zo´ar.


Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.


And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gil´e-ad.


And Laban called it Je´gar–sahadu´tha: but Jacob called it Ga´leed.


And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ish´maelites came from Gil´e-ad, with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.


Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
