And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.


And from Betah, and from Ber´othai, cities of Hadade´zer, king David took exceeding much brass.


And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.


And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadare´zer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.


Is not Calno as Car´chemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?


Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.


And the border from the sea shall be Ha´zar–e´nan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.


And the east side ye shall measure from Hau´ran, and from Damascus, and from Gil´e-ad, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.


The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This is the west side.


Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to Hamath, Ha´zar–e´nan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for Dan.


But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of the wilderness.


And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.


So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.


from mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:


and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
