And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahana´im, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Am´mi-el of Lo–de´bar, and Barzil´lai the Gil´e-adite of Ro´gelim,
But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ish–bo´sheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahana´im;
And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gil´e-ad is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gil´e-ad, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aro´er that is before Rabbah;
and in the valley, Beth–a´ram, and Beth–nim´rah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chin´nereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gil´e-ad out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manas´seh.

Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gil´e-ad. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.
Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gil´e-ad, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the Lord in Mizpeh.
Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gil´e-ad, and Manas´seh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gil´e-ad, and from Mizpeh of Gil´e-ad he passed over unto the children of Ammon.
