And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Jo´ab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of As´ahel his brother.


They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.


The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:


What shall be given unto thee? Or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?


Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.


For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.


The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.


And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.


For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
