But Ab´ishai the son of Zeru-i´ah answered and said, Shall not Shim´e-i be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed?


And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeru-i´ah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?


So Jo´ab and Ab´ishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother As´ahel at Gibeon in the battle.


Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish–bo´sheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do show kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me today with a fault concerning this woman?


And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?


Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.


And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Eli´jah did?


Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.


Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.


After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.
