Nehemiah 5:1

So neither I, nor my brothers, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me, none of us put off our clothes, everyone [went with] his weapon [to] the water.


so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.


The LORD said, *I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.


For the vineyard of the LORD of Armies is the house of Yisra'el, and the men of Yehudah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but, behold, oppression; for righteousness, but, behold, a cry of distress.


The word that came to Yirmeyahu from the LORD, after that the king Tzidkiyahu had made a covenant with all the people who were at Yerushalayim, to proclaim liberty to them;


Thus says the Lord GOD: Let it suffice you, princes of Yisra'el: remove violence and spoil, and execute justice and righteousness; dispossessing my people, says the Lord GOD.


This again you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, because he doesn't regard the offering any more, neither receives it with good will at your hand.


Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?


*The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?'


Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
