Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul has not been polluted; for from my youth up even until now have I not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn of animals; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.


But Daniyel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.


The LORD spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, saying to them,


and you detest them. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.


*'These you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the nesher, and the rakham, and the black rakham,


Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to hop on the earth.


*'These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the kholed, the rat, any kind of tzav,


Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat.


All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.


*'If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.


*'Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn't have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you.


*'These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat.


That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.*


Don't be carried away by various and strange teachings, for it is good that the heart be established by grace, not by food, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.
