Now `Efron was sitting in the middle of the children of Chet. `Efron the Chittite answered Avraham in the hearing of the children of Chet, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,


*I am a stranger and a foreigner living with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.*


He talked with them, saying, *If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to `Efron the son of Tzochar,


the field which Avraham purchased of the children of Chet. Avraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.


He charged them, and said to them, *I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of `Efron the Chittite,


for his sons carried him into the land of Kena`an, and buried him in the cave of the field of Makhpelah, which Avraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burial site, from `Efron the Chittite, before Mamre.


Then David said to Ornan, Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build thereon an altar to the LORD: for the full price shall you give it me, that the plague may be stayed from the people.


King David said to Ornan, No; but I will most certainly buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer a burnt offering without cost.


Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.


Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
