and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the earth;* and it was so.
if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor,
when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Let them praise the name of the LORD, For he commanded, and they were created.
His going forth is from the end of the heavens, his circuit to its ends; There is nothing hidden from its heat.
The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained;
For the stars of the sky and its Mazzarot will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of Armies will reign on Mount Tziyon, and in Yerushalayim; and before his elders will be glory.
Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, Not one is lacking.
I form the light, and create darkness; I make shalom, and create evil. I am the LORD, who does all these things.
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that the waves of it roar; the LORD of Armies is his name:
The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear.
But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the army of the sky, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.
The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
