When he saw them, Ya`akov said, *This is God's army.* He called the name of that place Machanayim.


Avshalom and all the men of Yisra'el said, The counsel of Chushai the Arki is better than the counsel of Achitofel. For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Achitofel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Avshalom.


Now Aviner the son of Ner, captain of Sha'ul's army, had taken Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul, and brought him over to Machanayim;


Then spoke Yehoshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amori before the children of Yisra'el; and he said in the sight of Yisra'el, Sun, stand you still on Giv`on; You, Moon, in the valley of Ayalon.


that they feared greatly, because Giv`on was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than `Ai, and all the men of it were mighty.


Come up to me, and help me, and let us strike Giv`on; for it has made shalom with Yehoshua and with the children of Yisra'el.


Giv`on, and Ramah, and Be'erot,


But when the inhabitants of Giv`on heard what Yehoshua had done to Yericho and to `Ai,


If he be able to fight with me, and kill me, then will we be your servants; but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall you be our servants, and serve us.
