Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”


He will not look upon the rivers, the streams flowing with honey and curds.


to whom I have given the arid plain for his home and the salt land for his dwelling place?


The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.


a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants.


that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;


For you shall be like an oak whose leaf withers, and like a garden without water.


therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah of Nehelam and his descendants. He shall not have anyone living among this people, and he shall not see the good that I will do to my people, declares the Lord, for he has spoken rebellion against the Lord.’”


Flee! Save yourselves! You will be like a juniper in the desert!


But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt.
