Later in the day, the sun was going down. Abram became very sleepy and fell asleep. While he was asleep a very terrible darkness came.


Jacob got up very early in the morning. Jacob took the rock he had slept on and set it up on its edge. Then he poured oil on the rock. In this way, he made this rock a memorial to God.


The name of that place was Luz. But Jacob named it Bethel. [164]


He told his men to find some more rocks and make a pile of rocks. Then they ate beside the pile of rocks.


Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes to live in. The birds have nests to live in. But the Son of Man {\cf2\super [96]} has no place where he can rest his head.”


We share in the many sufferings of Christ. In the same way, much comfort comes to us through Christ.
