The next morning Pharaoh was worried about these dreams. So he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told these men the dreams, but none of them could interpret the dreams.


These two things will happen to you:\par First, you will lose your children.\par And then you will lose your husband.\par Yes, these things will really happen to you.\par And all of your magic\par and all of your powerful tricks\par will not save you.\par


The Lord says,\par “Sword, kill the people living in Babylon.\par Sword, kill the king’s officials\par and the wise men of Babylon.\par


Daniel answered, “King Nebuchadnezzar, no wise man, no man that does magic tricks, and no Chaldean could tell the king the secret things he has asked about.


That is what I, King Nebuchadnezzar, dreamed. Now, Belteshazzar (Daniel), tell me what it means. None of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret that dream for me. But Belteshazzar, you can interpret the dream because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.


I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at my palace. {\cf2\super [38]} I was happy and successful.


When the men of magic, and the Chaldeans {\cf2\super [40]} came, I told them about the dream. But those men could not tell me what it meant.


The wise men and the men of magic were brought to me to read this writing on the wall. I wanted those men to explain to me what this writing means. But they could not explain this writing on the wall to me.
