Hiram was the king of Tyre. Hiram had always been David’s friend. So when Hiram heard that Solomon had become the new king after David, he sent his servants to Solomon.
So Solomon began to build the temple. This was 480 years [30] after the people of Israel left Egypt. This was during Solomon’s fourth year as king of Israel. It was in the month of Ziv, the second month of the year.
“So the Lord has kept the promise that he gave. I am the king now in place of David my father. Now I rule the people of Israel like the Lord promised. And I built the temple for the Lord, the God of Israel.
After David had moved into his house, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Look, I am living in a house made of cedar wood, but the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [192]} sits under a tent. \{I want to build a temple {\cf2\super [193]} for God.\}”
Solomon began building the Lord’s temple {\cf2\super [22]} at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. Mount Moriah is the place where the Lord came to David, Solomon’s father. Solomon built the temple on the place that David had made ready. This place was at the threshing floor {\cf2\super [23]} that had belonged to Araunah {\cf2\super [24]} the Jebusite.
