He asked this to test him,  for he himself knew what he was going to do.


not that there is another gospel,  but there are some  who are troubling you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.


Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching,  by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.


We recall, in the presence of our God and Father,  your work produced by faith,  your labour motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.


but test all things.  Hold on to what is good.


Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, bearing this inscription:  The Lord knows those who are his,   , and let everyone who calls on the name  of  the Lord turn away from wickedness.


For God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love  you demonstrated for his name by serving the saints #– #and by continuing to serve them.


Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits  to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.


Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.   Otherwise, I will come to you   and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.


Yet you do have this: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.


I know your   affliction and poverty, but you are rich. I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.


‘Write to the angel   of the church in Sardis: Thus says the one who has the seven spirits of God   and the seven stars:   I know your works;   you have a reputation   for being alive, but you are dead.


I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot.


I know your works. Look, I have placed before you an open door that no one can close because you have but little power; yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
