Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl approached him and said, ‘You were with Jesus the Galilean too.’
Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence and gathered the whole company around him.
Peter followed him at a distance, right into the high priest’s courtyard. He was sitting with the servants, , warming himself by the fire.
While Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the high priest’s maidservants came.
The soldiers led him away into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence ) and called the whole company together.
They lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, and Peter sat among them.

The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it so that they could arrest him.
Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters. It was early morning. They did not enter the headquarters themselves; otherwise they would be defiled and unable to eat the Passover.
