Matthew 23:18
7 Tagairtí Cros

If a man sins against his neighbour and is forced to take an oath and he comes to take an oath before your altar in this temple,

When a man makes a vow to the Lord or swears an oath to put himself under an obligation, he must not break his word; he must do whatever he has promised.

‘Woe to you, blind guides,   who say, “Whoever takes an oath by the temple, it means nothing. But whoever takes an oath   by the gold of the temple is bound by his oath.”

Blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?

Blind people!   For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

But you say, “If anyone tells his father or mother: Whatever benefit   you might have received from me is corban” ’ (that is, an offering  devoted to God),

Again I testify to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to do the entire law.
