Work may be done for six days, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord. Anyone who does work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
For six days work is to be done, but on the seventh day you are to have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord. Anyone who does work on it must be executed.
‘If you avoid desecrating the Sabbath, from doing whatever you want on my holy day; if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy day of the Lord honourable; if you honour it, not going your own ways, seeking your own pleasure, or talking business; ,
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, ‘See, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.’
‘Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat.’ ,
The Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath? ’
Then they said to him, ‘John’s disciples fast often and say prayers, and those of the Pharisees do the same, but yours eat and drink.’
Therefore, the Jews began persecuting Jesus because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
