Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs  for seasons  and for days and years.


The members of the royal staff at the King’s Gate asked Mordecai, ‘Why are you disobeying the king’s command? ’


He answered them, ‘Why do you break God’s commandment because of your tradition?


They observed that some of his disciples were eating bread with unclean   #– #that is, unwashed #– #hands.


So the Pharisees  and the scribes  asked him, ‘Why don’t your disciples live  according to the tradition of the elders,  instead of eating bread with ceremonially unclean  hands? ’


When the Pharisee saw this, he was amazed that he did not first perform the ritual washing  , before dinner.


I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.


Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition,  based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ.


For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life  inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
