‘How can anyone be born when he is old? ’ Nicodemus asked him. ‘Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born? ’
‘Sir,’ said the woman, ‘you don’t even have a bucket, and the well is deep. So where do you get this “living water”?
Therefore the Jews started grumbling about him because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven.’
Therefore, when many of his disciples heard this, they said, ‘This teaching is hard. Who can accept it? ’
Some of the Pharisees said, ‘This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.’ But others were saying, ‘How can a sinful man perform such signs? ’ And there was a division among them.
When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him, but others said, ‘We’d like to hear from you again about this.’
But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.
