John 1:19
27 Tagairtí Cros

He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that all might believe through him.

The Jews surrounded him and asked, ‘How long are you going to keep us in suspense?  If you are the Messiah,  tell us plainly.’  ,

Again the Jews picked up rocks to stone him.

Many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother.

So the Jews replied to him, ‘What sign will you show us for doing these things? ’

Therefore the Jews said, ‘This temple took forty-six years to build,  and will you raise it up in three days? ’

and so the Jews  said to the man who had been healed, ‘This is the Sabbath.  The law prohibits you from picking up your mat.’

The man went and reported to the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

Therefore, the Jews began persecuting  Jesus  because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.

This is why the Jews began trying all the more to kill him:  Not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.

Therefore the Jews started grumbling about him because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven.’

At that, the Jews argued  among themselves,  ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ’

After this, Jesus travelled in Galilee,  since he did not want to travel in Judea  because the Jews  were trying to kill him.

The Jews were looking for him at the festival and saying, ‘Where is he? ’

Then the Jews were amazed and said, ‘How is this man so learned,  since he hasn’t been trained? ’

So the Jews said again, ‘He won’t kill himself, will he, since he says, “Where I’m going, you cannot come”   ? ’

The Jews responded to him, ‘Aren’t we right in saying that you’re a Samaritan  and have a demon? ’

Then the Jews said, ‘Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, “If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.”

The Jews replied, ‘You aren’t fifty years old yet, and you’ve seen Abraham? ’

Now as John was completing his mission, he said, “Who do you think I am? I am not the one. But one is coming after me, and I am not worthy to untie the sandals on his feet.”

Paul said, ‘John baptised with a baptism of repentance,  telling the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.’

‘Be careful with a person who has a case of serious skin disease, following carefully everything the Levitical priests instruct you to do. Be careful to do as I have commanded them.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light,  and there is absolutely no darkness in him.
