The angel told the women, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he told them. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they put him.
Assuming he was in the travelling party, they went a day’s journey. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. ‘Why are you looking for the living among the dead? ’ asked the men.
When Jesus turned and noticed them following him, he asked them, ‘What are you looking for? ’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi’ (which means ‘Teacher’), ‘where are you staying? ’
Then Jesus, knowing everything that was about to happen to him, went out and said to them, ‘Who is it that you’re seeking? ’
Then he asked them again, ‘Who is it that you’re seeking? ’ ‘Jesus of Nazareth,’ they said.
They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you crying? ’ ‘Because they’ve taken away my Lord,’ she told them, ‘and I don’t know where they’ve put him.’
