They raise their voices, they sing out; they proclaim in the west the majesty of the  Lord.


‘Speak tenderly to   Jerusalem, and announce to her that her time of hard service is over, her iniquity  has been pardoned, and she has received from the  Lord’s hand double for all her sins.’


And the ransomed of the  Lord will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee.


There is a voice of fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon. The voice announces in Zion the vengeance of the  Lord our God, the vengeance for his temple.


Therefore, hear the plans that the Lord has drawn up against Babylon and the strategies he has devised against the land of the Chaldeans:  Certainly the flock’s little lambs will be dragged away; certainly the grazing land will be made desolate because of them.
