Then certain ones said, ‘Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah,  for instruction will never be lost from the priest,  or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet.  Come, let’s denounce him  and pay no attention to all his words.’


I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth,  and you will be mute  and unable to be a mediator for  them, for they are a rebellious house.


Ephraim is attached to idols; leave him alone!


They hate the one who convicts the guilty at the city gate, and they despise  the one who speaks with integrity.


Therefore, those who have insight will keep silent  , at such a time, for the days are evil.

The person who acts arrogantly, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there serving the Lord your God or to the judge, must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.
