Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.


Isaac was forty years old when he took as his wife Rebekah  daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram  and sister of Laban the Aramean.


So he said, ‘Isn’t he rightly named Jacob?  , For he has cheated me twice now. He took my birthright, and look, now he has taken my blessing.’ Then he asked, ‘Haven’t you saved a blessing for me? ’


Abraham  fathered Isaac. Isaac’s sons: Esau and Israel.


In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel, and as an adult he wrestled with God.


Jacob struggled with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favour. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with him.  ,


‘I have loved you,’  says the Lord. Yet you ask, ‘How have you loved us? ’ ‘Wasn’t Esau Jacob’s brother? ’  This is the Lord’s declaration. ‘Even so, I loved Jacob,


Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, ‘This is what your brother Israel  says, “You know all the hardships that have overtaken us.


And so he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. After this, he fathered Isaac and circumcised  him on the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.


The children born to them in the third generation may enter the Lord’s assembly.


and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau.  I gave the hill country of Seir to Esau as a possession. ‘ “Jacob and his sons, however, went down to Egypt.
