Reuben, you are my firstborn, my strength and the firstfruits of my virility, excelling in prominence, excelling in power.


When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.’ So Elisha answered, ‘Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.’


Their father had given them many gifts of silver, gold, and valuable things, along with fortified cities  in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.


The younger of them said to his father, “Father, give me the share of the estate I have coming to me.” So he distributed the assets   to them.


when that man gives what he has to his sons as an inheritance, he is not to show favouritism to the son of the loved wife as his firstborn over the firstborn of the neglected wife.
