Reuben, you are my firstborn, my strength and the firstfruits of my virility, excelling in prominence, excelling in power.


An honest witness does not deceive, but a dishonest witness utters lies.


‘The Lord acquired   me at the beginning of his creation, before his works of long ago.


Since I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples,


Whoever asks for a blessing in the land will ask for a blessing by the God of truth, and whoever swears in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my sight.


And they said to Jeremiah, ‘May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we don’t act according to every word the Lord your God sends you to tell us.


All things were created  through him,  and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.


‘Even if I testify about myself,’ Jesus replied, ‘my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.


For every one of God’s promises  is ‘Yes’ in him. Therefore, through him we also say ‘Amen’  to the glory of God.


He must acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the neglected wife, by giving him two shares  , of his estate, for he is the firstfruits of his virility; he has the rights of the firstborn.


He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.


He is also the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything.


For I want you to know how greatly I am struggling  for you, for those in Laodicea,  and for all who have not seen me in person.


After this letter has been read at your gathering, make sure that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.


saying, ‘Write   on a scroll   what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.’


and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness,  the firstborn from the dead  and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has set us free  from our sins by his blood,


Then I saw heaven opened,  and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True,  and with justice he judges and makes war.


‘Write to the angel   of the church in Ephesus: Thus says the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and who walks among the seven golden lampstands:


Then he said to me, ‘It is done!  I am the Alpha and the Omega,  the beginning and the end.  I will freely give to the thirsty  from the spring of the water of life.


I am the Alpha and the Omega,   the first and the last,   the beginning and the end.


Then he said to me, ‘These words are faithful  and true.  The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets,  has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.’


‘Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: Thus says the Holy One, the true one,   the one who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and who closes and no one opens:
