Her husband followed her, weeping all the way to Bahurim. Abner said to him, ‘Go back.’ So he went back.


‘Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim.  But he came down to meet me at the River Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, “I will never kill you with the sword.”


‘Skin for skin! ’ Satan answered the Lord. ‘A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life.


Reach a settlement quickly with your adversary while you’re on the way with him to the court, or your adversary will hand you over to the judge, and the judge to   the officer, and you will be thrown into prison.


Afterwards, go ahead of me to Gilgal. I will come to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice fellowship offerings. Wait seven days until I come to you and show you what to do.’
