For David had said to the Amalekite, ‘Your blood is on your own head  because your own mouth testified against you by saying, “I killed the Lord’s anointed.” ’


Then he begged me, “Stand over me and kill me, for I’m mortally wounded,  but my life still lingers.”


He took the crown from the head of their king,  and it was placed on David’s head. The crown weighed thirty-five kilograms  of gold, and it had a precious stone in it. In addition, David took away a large quantity of plunder from the city.


Jehoiada brought out the king’s son, put the crown  on him, gave him the testimony,  , and made him king. They anointed  him and clapped their hands and cried, ‘Long live the king! ’


The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned.


For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.


Adoni-bezek said, ‘Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up scraps  under my table. God has repaid me for what I have done.’ They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
