This is what the Lord says:  “I am about to bring disaster on you and will eradicate your descendants: I will wipe out all of Ahab’s males, both slave and free,  in Israel;


Ahaziah died according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken. Since he had no son, Joram  , became king in his place. This happened in the second year of Judah’s King Jehoram  son of Jehoshaphat.


The whole house of Ahab will perish, and I will wipe out all of Ahab’s males,  both slave and free,  in Israel.


So when Jehu executed judgement on the house of Ahab,  he found the rulers of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah’s brothers who were serving Ahaziah, and he killed them.


‘For look, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,’ says the Lord of Armies, ‘not leaving them root or branches.
