And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified unto them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom Jehovah had charged them that they should not do like them.


Look on {\i my} right hand, and see;\par\tab For there is no man that knoweth me:\par\tab Refuge hath failed me;\par\tab No man careth for my soul.


I hate them that regard lying vanities;\par\tab But I trust in Jehovah.


Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink:\par\tab Let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.


But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock.


O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, {\i even} vanity and things wherein there is no profit.


For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.\par


Hear, ye peoples, all of you; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord Jehovah be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.


and turn ye not aside; for then would ye go after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.
