Psalm 142

¹ An Instruction of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cried to Jehovah with my voice; with my voice I prayed to Jehovah.

² I poured out my prayer before Him; I declared my trouble before Him.

³ When my spirit fainted within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walked they have secretly laid a snare for me.

⁴ I looked on my right hand, and I watched, but no one recognized me; escape was lost to me; no man cared for my soul.

⁵ I cried to You, O Jehovah; I said, You are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

⁶ Hear my cry; for I am brought very low; deliver me from my pursuers; for they are stronger than I.

⁷ Bring my soul out of prison that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall gather around me; for You shall reward me.
