18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and purify yourselves, and change your garments:


Though he spare it, and will not let it go, But keep it still within his mouth;


When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, And shall rain it upon him while he is eating.


Behold, he smote the rock, that waters gushed out, And streams overflowed; Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?


And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.


And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,


And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not near a woman.


And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.


And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of the LORD: and when the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.


Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;


to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,


Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, There is a devoted thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the devoted thing from among you.


And the people came to Beth-el, and sat there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore.
